Just when I thought “buddy cop” action films were dead, Shane Black delivers us The Nice Guys in neo-noir greatness. It is a brilliant blend of black comedy, mystery and action. The set pieces are simple but powerful and the jokes keep you laughing from one bad moment to the next. The Nice Guys is this decade’s Die Hard. This is going to be the film that people remember the twenty-tens for. I hope.

There was so much much perfection with this film. I love Black’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang but this for me was the next level; this was graduation day for Black. If I could recommend a film for 2016, The Nice Guys would be it. I am sure there are going to be some great Oscar bate films this coming winter, but looking at the slate, I can’t imagine anything beating it.
