I walked out of Desierto somewhat let down. On the surface it is a moderately adequate film covering some very important topics that could truly push audiences to contemplate some heavy themes.  But once you move past this “surface level” you begin to realize how shallow the script truly is. Upon this realization you recognize this film unfortunately develops from a complex film with substance into a mere cat and mouse game. Now is it a bad cat and mouse game? If that doesn’t dissuade you from seeing it you might actually find Desierto enjoyable. As for me, I was not only looking for something with more substance, I was expecting it.
